Coaching is not medical care
Built by Hill Coaching provides fitness coaching, nutrition education, habit and accountability support, and general wellness guidance. Coaching is educational.
It doesn’t diagnose, treat, cure or manage any medical condition. It isn’t medical care, physical therapy or psychotherapy, and it isn’t a substitute for care from a licensed healthcare professional.
When your needs fall outside a coach’s scope of practice, you may be referred to a qualified professional.
Talk to your doctor first
Check with your doctor before starting any new exercise or nutrition program, especially if you have a medical condition or injury, are pregnant or postpartum, take medication, or have had chest pain, dizziness or fainting.
Clients complete a pre-exercise health screening before coaching starts. You may be asked to get medical clearance before beginning or continuing certain activities.
Nutrition is education, not medical nutrition therapy
Nutrition coaching covers general education and habits, such as calories and macronutrients, protein, portions, meal structure, hydration, meal prep and grocery planning. It isn’t medical nutrition therapy, and it isn’t meant to diagnose or treat disease.
If you have a medical condition, food allergies, a digestive condition, an eating disorder, pregnancy-related needs or dietary needs tied to a medication, please work with a physician or registered dietitian.
You’re responsible for your own food choices, supplement use and how you apply any nutrition recommendations.
Exercise involves risk
All exercise carries some risk, including soreness, strains, sprains, joint injuries, falls, overexertion, dehydration and heart-related events. Injury can happen even when exercises are done as instructed and with reasonable care.
You choose to take part voluntarily. You’re responsible for using good judgment, keeping your training space safe and checking your equipment before you use it.
Online coaching has limits
Your coach usually isn’t physically there while you train. That means she can’t see every rep, catch every technique error, see your whole training space or know how you feel at every moment.
Tell your coach right away about any new injury, pain, symptom or change in your health.
Stop and get help
Stop exercising and get medical attention if you have:
- Chest pain or pressure
- Fainting
- Severe dizziness
- Severe or unusual shortness of breath
- Sudden or significant pain
- Unusual heart palpitations
- Any other symptom that worries you
Coaching is not an emergency service. Don’t use coaching messages or email for a medical emergency. Call 911 or your local emergency number.
No guaranteed results
No specific result is guaranteed. That includes weight loss, muscle gain, body-fat percentage, strength, athletic performance, appearance, health outcomes, nutrition outcomes and how long any of it takes.
Results depend on many things, including consistency, nutrition, sleep, stress, recovery, genetics, medical conditions, medications, training history and lifestyle. Progress isn’t always a straight line.
Testimonials and before-and-after photos
Testimonials and photos on this website are the real experiences of Hillary and her clients, shared with permission. They show individual experiences, not a promise that you’ll get the same results.
Your decisions
You’re responsible for decisions about your own health, fitness, nutrition and physical activity. Coaching provides education, structure and support. You decide whether and how to use it.
